Komeil Yeganeh
May 1982 • M.A. in Art Research | University of Science and Culture, Tehran | 2011–2013 • B.A. in Handicrafts | Tehran University of Art | 2001–2005 Komail Yeganeh is a contemporary artist, researcher, and lecturer in the visual arts whose professional practice and inquiry began in 2001. In recent years, his artistic approach has centred on the vocabularies of contemporary art — in particular upcycled art and the process of creative repurposing. Working with found materials, everyday objects, and the seemingly worthless elements of his surroundings (wood, metal, paper, and cardboard), Yeganeh engages in acts of artistic intervention and deconstruction. His works, most often realised as assemblages and site-specific installations, carry environmental concerns and examine the relationship between humankind, waste, nature, and time. Through defamiliarization and the unconventional use of discarded materials within minimal, conceptual forms, he seeks to open new possibilities for the revaluation of overlooked objects and to challenge the traditional notion of the artwork.
