

Laleh Ziaei, born in 1983 in
Tehran, is an Iranian illustrator and cartoonist. She began her professional
career in 2000 as a cartoonist for Bacheha Gol Agha magazine when it
began independent publication. Earlier, during her teenage years, she had
collaborated with Aftabgardan newspaper and the children's supplement of
Gol Agha magazine. Her father, the late Mohammad-Rafi Ziaei, was her
first teacher in art.
Ziaei received her B.A. in
Painting from the University of Tehran and her M.A. in Animation Directing from
the Tehran University of Art. Her professional practice has continued across
illustration and cartooning for books and periodicals, animation production,
and digital media, with a significant part of her work created for children and
young adults. She has collaborated with various publications and publishers
and, since October 2022, has worked as an animation instructor at the Girls'
School of Fine Arts in Tehran.
Ziaei is a permanent member of
the Iranian Illustrators Society and a member of the Iranian Animation Guild.
She has also worked as an animator and character designer on animated
productions including Dash Akol.
