Jamal Rahmati

Jamal Rahmati, born in 1972 in Zanjan, is an Iranian
cartoonist. He received his B.A. in Graphic Design from the Faculty of Fine
Arts, University of Tehran, and his M.A. in Animation from the Faculty of
Cinema and Theater, Tehran University of Art.

Rahmati has pursued his professional career in cartooning
through collaborations with newspapers and magazines including Donyaye Tasvir, Hamshahri, Shargh, Iran, Zan, Asr-e Azadegan, Jame'eh, Toos, and Neshat. At several of
these publications, he also served as editor of the cartoon section. He has
additionally directed several short narrative films.

Rahmati has received 26 international awards, including six
first prizes. His distinctions include a Special Award at the Satyrykon
International Cartoon Contest in Poland, an Honorary Diploma at the Daejeon
International Cartoon Contest in South Korea, First Prize at the International
European Humor Festival, a Special Award from the Warsaw Museum of Caricature,
Best Animation Film at a Baku festival, First Prize at the Piracicaba
International Humor Exhibition in Brazil, Third Prize at the International Anti-Drug
Festival, and Second Prize at the Himal International Cartoon Contest in India.
