Abbas Boluki Far, a painter and art instructor, was born in 1924. He learned traditional coffeehouse painting under Hossein Goller Aghasi in Tehran. From 1945, he lived in Mashhad, where he worked on the restoration of old parde (traditional painted panels). Later, Boluki Far painted parde for film sets in Tehran. After receiving a first-degree artistic certificate from the Artists’ Evaluation Council, he began teaching at Allameh Tabataba’i University. He was well-versed in Iranian epic and religious literature and drew upon this knowledge in his works. His portraiture is particularly emblematic of his artistic style. Among his enduring works are Rostam and Sohrab, Javanmard-e Qassab, and Yusuf and Zuleikha. He passed away in 2009.
