Ahmad Mohamadpoor

Ahmad Mohamadpoor

Ahmad Mohammadpour, a calligrapher and a second-generation artist of the Naghashi-Khat (pictorial calligraphy) movement, was born in 1965 in Babolsar, Iran. He began his calligraphy training in 1971 at the Iranian Calligraphers Association and graduated in 1986. Mohammadpour’s artistic approach focuses on opening new visual horizons in calligraphy with a painterly perspective, avoiding repetition and monotonous patterns, and his works do not emphasize conventional legibility of the text. His artworks blend tradition and modernity, created on the foundation of mastery in Nasta’liq script, with attention to rhythm, visual cadence, and textual texture. He received the First-Class Artistic Medal from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in 2009 and a teaching certificate from the Calligraphers Association in 2011. His first solo exhibition was held at Seyhoun Gallery in 1991, and his international presence began with the “Iranian Art” exhibition at Opera Gallery in London, followed by shows in countries including France, Italy, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Qatar, and many others.
