
Ahmad Morshedlou, born in 1973 in Mashhad, is an Iranian realist painter whose work engages deeply with social and human concerns. From an early age, he showed a strong interest in art and began his professional path in 1989 by enrolling in the Boys’ Visual Arts High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Painting from Islamic Azad University, Tehran, in 1999 and completed his Master’s degree in Painting at Tehran University of Art in 2001. From the start of his career, Morshedlou focused on creating independent and solo works that reflect both personal and collective experiences. His first solo exhibition was held in 2001 at the Tarahan-e Azad Gallery in Tehran. Since then, he has collaborated with prominent galleries such as Asar, Aria, Hoor, and Projects-e Navaehi. Morshedlou’s artworks are known for their precise observation of social realities and human conditions, often functioning as a collective autobiography of lived experiences in Iranian society. Morshedlou has participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Iran and internationally, including the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Chelsea Museum in New York, F2 Gallery in Beijing, Saatchi Gallery in London, and the Iranian Artists Forum. He has also been featured in major art events such as Art Fair Istanbul, Art Fair Moscow, and the 56th Venice Biennale. His works are included in prestigious international collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Saatchi Gallery in London, and Eiam Gallery in Dubai. Morshedlou's works have been featured in international auctions such as Sotheby’s, Christie’s, and Tehran Auction, attracting significant attention from both audiences and critics. In 2017, the book of conversations by Shahrouz Nazari with Ahmad Morshedlou was published, offering an in-depth insight into his creative process and artistic thinking.
