Ali Shirazi

Ali Shirazi, a master calligrapher born in 1960 in Shiraz, Iran, began his professional training in 1974 under Moein al-Ketab Esfahani and refined his mastery of Nastaʿlīq through a meticulous study of Negarestan-e Khat by Seyed Hassan Mir-Khani. He later expanded his practice under the guidance of Gholamhossein Amirkhani, exploring innovative compositions of letters and words. Shirazi is a member of the Supreme Council of the Iranian Calligraphers Association, and his works have been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Iran and internationally. His pieces are held in prestigious collections in Dubai, Qatar, and Iran. His artistic style blends traditional Nastaʿlīq with a painterly approach, arranging bold two- to three-centimeter-wide scripts into symmetrical or asymmetrical forms. This innovative synthesis, combined with fidelity to classical principles, has secured his prominent position in contemporary Iranian calligraphy.
