
Seyed Ali Mirfatah is a journalist, graphic designer, and painter, born in 1967 in Tehran. He began his career in journalism with Sureh weekly magazine and from 1992 served as its editor-in-chief. Over the years, he has held the position of editor-in-chief for several major publications, including Mehr Weekly, Negah Weekly, Kargadan Weekly, Roozegar Daily, and Etemad Daily. In addition to his journalistic work, Mirfatah is the author of several books, including Git-e Dokhani (2016) and Shamsiyeh-ye Landaniyeh (2018), and has written screenplays for documentary films and television series. Mirfatah has also been active in the field of graphic design, creating film posters for works such as Sometimes Look at the Sky (Kamal Tabrizi, 2002), Qadamgah (Mohammad Mehdi Asgarpour, 2004), Spaghetti in Eight Minutes (Rambod Javan, 2004), Fish Fall in Love (Ali Raffi, 2004), Redemption in Eight Twenty (Siroos Alvand, 2004), I Saw Your Father Last Night, Aida (Rasoul Sadr Ameli, 2004), Max (Saman Moghadam, 2004), and Café Transit (Kambuzia Partovi, 2005). Although Mirfatah had been painting alongside his journalistic career, he began to pursue painting more seriously after leaving journalism. As he has stated, he draws on his accumulated social capital as a source for the creation of his artworks. He has held two solo exhibitions of his paintings at Artibition Gallery: Rhinoceroses (2022) and Rhinoceroses Sometimes Do Not Travel Alone (2023).
