"Samila Amirabrahimi, an Iranian painter, designer, and printmaker, was born in 1950 in Tehran. She received a bachelor's degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Tehran and later, with a focus on art, completed courses in engraving and manual printmaking (calco-graphy) at the École Supérieure des Arts et Industries in Paris. In 1978, Amirabrahimi also earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland." Amir-Ebrahimi began her professional career in the early 1970s with solo exhibitions at Khaneh Aftab and Ghandriz Hall in Tehran. Over the following decades, her works have been featured in more than twenty solo exhibitions and numerous group shows in Iran and abroad. Among her notable solo exhibitions are The Trees Die Standing (Golestan Gallery, 1989), Scorched Earth (Arya Gallery, 1994), Cycles (Iranian Artists Forum, 2004), Pastel (Vista Gallery, 2015), and A Look at the Paintings of Samila Amir-Ebrahimi (Hoor Gallery, 2022). Her works have also been exhibited in international print triennials and biennials in France and Italy. Amir-Ebrahimi’s art offers a poetic reflection on the city, nature, and social life. The human condition and urban spaces form the central themes of her work — where personal experience merges with visual expression to depict the cultural and inner transformations of contemporary Iranian society.
