Ahmad Aminnazar is an Iranian contemporary painter, born in 1955 in Abadan. He began his artistic education at the Tehran School of Fine Arts and continued his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, where he studied under artists such as Hannibal Alkhas and Mohsen Vaziri-Moghaddam. This academic training provided a solid foundation for the formation of his visual language—one grounded in precise draftsmanship, mastery of line, and a deep understanding of the human figure. In the early years of his professional career, Aminnazar focused particularly on printmaking techniques, especially etching. His works were shown in 1965 at the International Print Exhibition of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. From the mid-1980s onward, alongside graphic design and teaching, he returned to painting as his primary medium. His migration to Paris and later to Germany in 1986, and his encounter with European Neo-Expressionism, had a significant impact on his artistic approach. After joining the Cologne Artists’ Association (B.B.K) and holding his first solo exhibition in Germany, he returned to Iran in 1994. Aminnazar has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Iran and internationally and has participated in major international art fairs. The publication of his book Metamorphosis in 2010 offers a concise overview of his visual and intellectual world.
