Arash Raissian
I was born on May 9, 1969, in Tehran. I have been interested in and engaged in photography since childhood and have continued to this day. In 2003, I received a bachelor's degree in film directing from Soore University of Art. Since then, I have been making documentary films. I have made many films about art in Iran and Iranian painters. I also have several experimental films and a musical film for children in my portfolio. In 2016, I opened the Daargoun Art Gallery in Tehran and have been managing it since. For many years, I have been fascinated by discovering the shapes of natural elements in nature. I used to photograph them for a long time. Since 2023, I have been combining the woods I find on the beach, river, and forest to create unique and innovative sculptures. Additionally, I am knowledgeable about classical Iranian music and play several Iranian instruments. All these experiences have led me to consider myself a multidisciplinary artist. I discover dried woods in nature that have taken on unique shapes due to natural factors. I work on them in my workshop and combine them to create specific forms that can be interpreted in various ways by the audience. Therefore, I consider the process of creating my art as a combination of nature, the artist, and chance. My art is about the idea that nature is constantly reproducing the creatures of the world, but it never creates any of them exactly the same. Each time, it introduces differences and new aspects in its creations.
