bahram dabiri

Bahram Dabiri is a modernist painter, born in 1950 in Shiraz. He is best known for his abstract and poetic paintings and drawings that draw on mythological human and animal motifs. Dabiri studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, from 1970 to 1974. He first exhibited his works in 1968 at Sepid Gallery in Tehran. In 1975, he held two further solo exhibitions at Seyhoun Gallery and the Goethe Institute in Tehran. In 1977, he participated in a joint exhibition with Hannibal Alkhas at Naghsh Gallery in Tehran. Dabiri has consistently remained an active artist, presenting his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries across Iran, Spain, Canada, and other countries around the world. In 1999, some of his works were shown at Total Arts in the Courtyard in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. One year later, his works were also exhibited at the Art Expo in New York. Three books containing interviews with Bahram Dabiri have been published to date: People and Myths, On Art and Literature: A Dialogue with Bahram Dabiri and Behjat Sadr, and Every Conversation Is an Illusion. In addition, the book A Selection of Works by Bahram Dabiri, featuring 25 works by the artist, was published by Nazar Publishing in 2005.
