
Behrang Samadzadegan is an artist, critic, and curator born in 1979 in Tehran, Iran. He began painting in childhood and later entered art school to pursue formal training. Samadzadegan holds a B.A. in Painting from the University of Art, Tehran, and an M.A. in Art Research from Tarbiat Modares University. In 2008, he won the Golden Pen Award at the First Cairo International Young Media Art Festival. In 2009, he received a residency grant from Visiting Arts Foundation in Bristol, UK. In 2012, he was awarded an artist residency at Salzamt Foundation in Linz, Austria, and in 2015 he completed an artist residency at the Cleveland Foundation and Zygote Press Studio in the United States. His works have been exhibited at the 5th Gyumri Biennial and the 1st Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art. Since 2004, he has taught theoretical and practical art courses at Soore University, the University of Art in Tehran, and private art institutes such as Aria and Mah Mehr. In 2015, he was invited as a visiting artist to teach for one semester at the Cleveland Institute of Art in the United States. Samadzadegan has served as a juror for numerous art events, including Damonfar, the New Generation Selection, the Isfahan Video Artist Festival, Persbook, the Vista Prize, and the Versus Biennial. His artworks are characterized by visually dense compositions filled with numerous elements and vibrant colors, often engaging with social themes.
