bita fayazi

Bita Fayyazi is a multimedia artist, born in 1962 in Tehran. She lived in the United Kingdom for seven years and returned to Iran in 1980. Fayyazi is regarded as one of the pioneers of installation art in the years following the Iranian Revolution. Between 1975 and 1982, she traveled to England for study and residence. After returning to Iran, she learned pottery and ceramic-making techniques at workshops of the Cultural Heritage Organization and at a porcelain factory. From 1990 to 1997, she focused on producing ceramic vessels and relief tiles. Works from this period were presented at the Ceramic Biennial, and in 1998 she was awarded the Special Prize at the Sixth Tehran Contemporary Ceramic Art Biennial. In 1993, Fayyazi held her first solo exhibition titled Paintings on the Wall and Abstract Forms at the Classic Gallery in Isfahan. Throughout her artistic career, she has collaborated with Seyhoun Gallery, Khak Gallery, and Dastan Gallery in Iran, as well as the Barbican Centre (London), XVA Gallery (Dubai), the Louis Vuitton Foundation (Paris), and Isabelle van den Eynde Gallery (Dubai). Her works have also been featured in major international art events, including the 51st Venice Biennale, Abu Dhabi Art Fair, Art Dubai, FIAC, Art Fair Asia Today, and Artissima. Fayyazi has also served as a juror for the Eighth Biennial of Ceramics and Glass at the Saba Cultural and Artistic Center.
