Amir Ahmad Falsafi

Amir Ahmad Falsafi, a calligrapher, was born in 1958 in Ahvaz, Iran. He completed his primary education at Saʿadat and Jaʿfari schools and his secondary education at Shahpour High School, earning his diploma in Natural Sciences. His interest in calligraphy began at the age of ten, and he received his initial training in free calligraphy classes under the late Master Seyyed Hassan Mirkhani. He subsequently studied, in succession, with Master Khoroush and Master Amir Khani, and in 1980 he was awarded the Distinguished (Momtaz) degree in Nastaʿliq script. In 1998, he received the Mastership Certificate in this field. Falsafi’s first solo exhibition was held in 1979 in Pune, India. His works include calligraphic renderings of the Divan of Hafez, the Rubaiyat of Khayyam, the do-baytis of Baba Taher, selections from the Shahnameh, the Divan of Hassan-zadeh Amoli, Saʿdi’s Golestan, the collected works of Iqbal Lahouri, compositions in Nastaʿliq, and other classical texts, all transcribed in his refined hand. In addition to creating artistic works, Falsafi has been active in teaching calligraphy, serving as a juror for exhibitions and calligraphy competitions, and organizing numerous exhibitions.
