Farhad Fozouni is a contemporary graphic designer and artist born in 1978 in Tehran. He received his BA in Visual Communication in 2004 from the Faculty of Art and Architecture, Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch, and is considered part of the fifth generation of Iranian graphic designers. Fozouni is a member of the Graphic Designers Society of Iran. From the beginning of his professional career in the 1990s and 2000s, he has worked simultaneously in graphic design, typography, artistic direction, and visual arts. Since 2006, with the founding of Studio Tehran, he has played an important role in the development of contemporary graphic design projects in Iran and is recognized as one of the key figures in contemporary Iranian typography. Fozouni’s works are based on the relationship between urban visual culture, Persian calligraphy, and contemporary design language. By transforming letters and written language into visual elements, he develops a poetic and conceptual approach to typography, which he himself describes as “visual poetry.” Alongside poster design, he is also active in installation art, sculpture, and conceptual projects. Works such as “Hard Poetry” and the series “Blades” and “Aftershock” are among his notable projects. He has received numerous international awards, including the STA Award at the Chicago International Poster Biennial, the Golden Bee Award in Moscow, the Diploma of the Tehran Graphic Design Biennial, and awards from the Taiwan International Poster Design Competition. His works have been exhibited in major international events such as the Warsaw and Chicago Biennials, as well as numerous exhibitions across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
