Habib Farajabadi (b. 1982, Shahroud, Iran) is a contemporary interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Tehran. His practice encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and video. Raised in an artistic environment, Farajabadi was introduced to art at an early age through his artist siblings, an experience that profoundly shaped his creative development. He began his artistic journey with realist painting; however, in the early 2000s, through experimentation in drawing and painting and an increasing engagement with abstraction, he gradually developed a distinctive visual language of his own. Farajabadi’s works intertwine abstract signs, gestural lines, layers of color, and visual memory to create complex, multilayered compositions that invite contemplation. He places equal importance on the creative process and the finished work, continually exploring new possibilities of visual expression through an intuitive and experimental approach. Over the course of his career, Farajabadi has presented numerous solo exhibitions at prominent galleries, including Etemad Gallery, Dastan Gallery, Homa Gallery, and Devon Thomas Gallery. His works have also been featured in significant group exhibitions and art events in Iran and internationally, including Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, and Sweden. In addition to his artistic practice, he has been active as a curator, organizing exhibitions such as Carbon and K.K. Carbon.
