Habib Tohidi

Habib Tohidi, born in 1951 in Tabriz, is an Iranian painter. He completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Painting at Mimar Sinan University in Turkey (1975–1983) and holds a Grade One Artistic Doctorate from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. He held his first solo exhibition in 1994 and has since participated in more than 150 group exhibitions in Iran and abroad. Tohidi is a faculty member at Islamic Azad University and an honorary member of the Iranian Painters Association as well as the Contemporary Visual Arts Development Institute. He was a laureate of the Islamic World Art Biennial in 2006. His works are inspired by Iranian miniature painting, gabbeh, kilim, and jajim textiles, and feature human, plant, and animal figures. His artworks are included in collections such as the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the Imam Ali Museum, and the Palestine Museum.
