Hoda Kashihah, born in 1986 in Tehran, is a contemporary painter. She completed her undergraduate studies in painting at the University of Tehran and then continued her education in the United States, earning a Master’s degree in Painting from Boston University. Her professional career began in the early 2000s with participation in group exhibitions, and since 2011, with her solo exhibition Untitled at Elahe Gallery in Tehran, she has maintained a consistent presence in both the domestic and international art scenes. Kashihah’s work blends contemporary elements such as pop art, comics, and animation with references to art history, creating abstract compositions with bold, layered forms and colors. Her paintings convey a sharp, often darkly humorous perspective while critically reinterpreting visual symbols. She has participated in prominent exhibitions and art fairs, including Tour & Taxi Hall in Brussels, Asia Now Art Fair, FIAC Paris, Art Basel/Frieze New York, and Art021 Shanghai, and her work has been recognized with awards such as the MacDowell Foundation Fellowship, the Howard Gotlieb Research Center Award, and the Esther B. Walbert S. Kan Prize.
