Iraj Eskandari (born 1956 in Kashmar) is a painter, researcher, and art instructor. He began his early painting training in Mashhad under the guidance of Mansour Dollow, where he also became acquainted with carpet design. After finishing high school, he studied painting at the College of Decorative Arts in Tehran and completed his undergraduate degree around the time of the 1979 Revolution. He then traveled to France to study mural painting and, after completing a one-year course, returned to Iran. Eskandari received his M.A. in Art Research and, in 2005, his Ph.D. in the same field from the University of Art, Tehran. Alongside his artistic practice, he has continuously taught at universities and is a faculty member at the University of Art. His first exhibition was held in 1972 at the Chamber of Commerce in Mashhad. Eskandari’s early works carried revolutionary themes but later evolved toward abstraction.
