Kourosh Adim (b. 1971, Babol, Iran) is a photographer and intermedia artist. He holds a B.A. in Biology and began his artistic practice in 1992 with a focus on photography. Over more than three decades, he has maintained a consistent and influential presence in the field of contemporary Iranian photography. His works have been exhibited in Iran and internationally, including in the United Kingdom, France, the United States, and the Netherlands. In 1996, he was awarded the FIAP Blue Ribbon at the 2nd Iranian Photography Biennial. Adim’s practice is characterized by an experimental and conceptual approach that expands the boundaries of photography toward intermedia expression. His use of experimental printing techniques and artist books constitutes a defining aspect of his work; within this framework, the image functions not merely as representation but as a site for reflecting on lived experience, memory, and the cultural and social transformations of contemporary Iran. Alongside his artistic practice, Adim has played an active role in the development of contemporary photography in Iran. He is a co-founder of the Babol Photography Association, has served as a juror in several national photography festivals, and was a member of the policy council of the 11th Iranian Photography Biennial. Through the publication of numerous books and visual projects, he has continuously pursued research-based and experimental approaches within artistic photography.
