Ladan Boroujerdi

Ladan Boroujerdi

Ladan Boroujerdi is a painter born in 1971 in Tehran, Iran. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Painting from Alzahra University. She began her professional artistic career in the same year, presenting her first solo exhibition titled “Woven Works” at Naqsh-e Jahan Gallery in Isfahan. From the outset, her artistic path was shaped by a reinterpretation of Iranian painting traditions, particularly miniature painting, gradually leading her toward the development of a personal visual language situated between Iranian pictorial heritage and contemporary expression. Boroujerdi’s works are primarily executed in watercolor and gouache on paper and visually reference lacquer painting and Persian miniature traditions. Through meticulous detail, complex compositions, and narrative elements, she constructs visual worlds in which past and present are interwoven. In many of her series, mythological figures, historical narratives, and cultural symbols are recontextualized alongside contemporary elements, forming a critical re-reading of visual memory. Her works have been exhibited internationally in museums, galleries, and art fairs including Art Miami, Art Basel, and various exhibitions across Europe and Asia, with several pieces also presented at international auctions.
