Mahmoud farshchian

Mahmoud Farshchian was born in 1308 (1929–1930) in Isfahan. Farshchian’s father was a representative of Isfahan carpets, and recognizing his son’s interest and talent, he took him to the painting workshop of Master Haj Mirza Agha Emami. After completing his training under Emami and Issa Bahadori and graduating from the Isfahan School of Fine Arts, Farshchian traveled to Europe to continue his studies, where he spent several years studying the works of Western artists in museums. According to his own account, in Europe he was the first person to enter the museum with a bundle of books and pens and the last to leave. After returning to Iran, Farshchian began his career at the General Department of Fine Arts in Tehran and was later appointed director of the National Department as well as professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran. The works of Master Farshchian have been exhibited in hundreds of solo and group exhibitions inside and outside the country. Museums, libraries, private collectors, and art lovers take pride in owning a piece of his work. In his art, Mahmoud Farshchian addresses mystical themes and employs flowing lines and colors to convey these concepts. His works emphasize Iranian literature and culture. Umberto Baldini, professor of art history and president of the International University of Art in Florence, Italy, has said about Farshchian: “To grasp the inner or spiritual essence of Farshchian’s work, a profound vision is required, and Farshchian is considered a turning point and a remarkable phenomenon in the realm of Iranian painting.” The Mahmoud Farshchian University, officially titled “Master Farshchian University of Islamic-Iranian Arts,” was established in 1397 (2018–2019) as a branch of the Islamic Azad University. The Mahmoud Farshchian Museum, featuring more than 50 works by this artist, was inaugurated in 1380 (2001–2002) at the Saadabad Palace Complex.
