Mahvash Joorabchi

I was born on 29th of April 1950 in Persia. I got my BA in English literature in an American college in 1973. I used to work as a head librarian, cataloging, buying and running the library, in Industrial Management Institute for 7 years and then started teaching English as the second language since 1980 which has continued to the present time. I attended Parvaneh Etemadi’s classes for 3 years and then became Aydin Aghdashloo’s student for 4 years. My teachers are the most known painting teachers in Tehran. But then I became Abdi Asbaghi’s student for 15 years who really led me to my real interest in painting which is forests, dead trees and bark of the trees. I live in Iran, but travel around the world to see more sceneries to take photos from, and to paint them later. I don’t paint exactly like the photos but change them to my interest. I’ve been able to create a style of my own painting the trees. I’ve started painting since 1990, but began painting professionally since 1997. I’ve had over 30 group exhibitions in Iran and one in Hawaii, two in Los Angeles. I’ve exhibited my paintings in several charity clubs, and had individual exhibitions in the most leading galleries in Tehran, Iran.
