Manouchehr Niazi is a painter born in 1937 in Tabriz, Iran. He began learning painting during his teenage years under Ali Asghar Petgar, Hossein Sheikh, Mahmoud Olya, and Ahmad Esfandiari, and later continued more formally at Kamal-ol-Molk Art School. Pursuing higher education in art and painting, he moved to the United States, earning a Master’s degree in Art History from Queens College, New York. Niazi lived in New York for about 23 years, holding his first solo exhibition in Beverly Hills. Since then, his works have been displayed in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Iran and abroad. After a long stay in the U.S., he returned to Iran to continue his professional career. Over the course of his career, he has received more than 30 awards internationally. Niazi is known for his distinctive style, particularly his densely populated tree motifs, which have earned him recognition as a romantic and poetic painter. In addition, he has been creating assemblages for over 45 years, incorporating metal objects like coins and keys in a poetic manner that, unlike his tree paintings, draws on pop-art influences rather than traditional approaches.
