Mir Hossein Mousavi

Mir-Hossein Mousavi, an Iranian artist and politician, was born in 1941 in the city of Khameneh. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in architecture and urban planning from the National University of Iran (now Shahid Beheshti University). Mousavi served as Iran’s Prime Minister for eight years and as the President of the Academy of Arts for eleven years. Despite his political and administrative responsibilities, he always maintained his connection with the arts and left behind enduring works in the field of architecture. Since the early 1960s, in addition to architecture, Mousavi has been active in painting and visual arts, creating works in modern, abstract, and conceptual styles. His works have been exhibited in various galleries and exhibitions, including a 2007 exhibition of his paintings and photographs of his architectural works at the Saba Cultural and Artistic Center, and a 2008 exhibition at the Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Art. In 2013, an exhibition of his works was also held at the Academy of Arts in Berlin.
