Mojtaba Tajik

Mojtaba Tajik, born in 1966 in Tehran, is a prominent Iranian painter. He began his professional career in 1983, taking photography classes with Masoud Masoumi and attending the Lorca workshop, which laid the foundation for his artistic practice. After completing his military service, he studied painting professionally under Aydin Aghdashloo for four years, a mentorship that shaped the precision and realism characteristic of his work. Tajik’s first formal presence in the art scene dates back to 1995, when he participated in the 3rd Tehran Painting Biennial and held his first solo exhibition at Seyhoun Gallery. Since then, he has maintained a consistent presence in Tehran’s painting biennials as well as in numerous solo and group exhibitions in both domestic and international galleries. His international activity began with a solo exhibition at Nader Gallery in New York (2003) and Bisan Gallery in Doha (2005), followed by collaborations with Asar Gallery that led to participation in international art fairs in Istanbul and Tir Art in Tehran. His group exhibitions have been shown at the Iranian Artists Forum, Golestan Gallery, Ariana Gallery, Azad Gallery, and Designers’ Freedoms Gallery. Tajik’s artistic style combines photorealistic precision, a photographic approach, and occasional symbolic elements, evident in his representations of everyday objects and minimal, mysterious spaces.
