Mohammad Hadi Fadavi, painter, was born in 1959 (1338 SH) in Arak, Iran. He studied Persian literature and, due to financial circumstances, initially worked in the film industry before eventually dedicating himself to painting. In a project called Gallery 9, Fadavi studied and replicated nearly 100 paintings, including Vincent van Gogh’s Portrait of Dr. Gachet. His first solo exhibition was held at Arsha Gallery in Arak, and in 2002 (1381 SH), he presented an exhibition at Nashr Karnameh in Tehran, which was met with great public acclaim and became a turning point in his artistic career. Before that, he had already participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Arak and Tehran. Fadavi brought elements of traditional Persian miniature painting into the modern art context, gaining recognition in the art market and among audiences for his vibrant palette and rootedness in local culture. Horses, cypress trees, and animals are among his recurring motifs. Through the rhythmic compositions of his works, Fadavi conveys a sense of motion—like a cinematic sequence or a visual narrative. Using the luminous tones of miniature and Persian carpet colors—lapis blue (Persian blue), ochre (earthy yellow), vermilion (Persian red), green, orange, saffron yellow, and gold—he invites the viewer into a vivid journey through the visual history of Iranian art.
