Nastaran Safaei is a sculptor born in Tehran in 1983. In 2004, she received an associate degree in Graphic Design from Sooreh University. After meeting Parviz Tanavoli and completing sculpture courses, she continued her artistic practice in this field. Safaei held her first calligraphy exhibition at the Iranian Artists Forum in 2005. Two years later, she presented the People, Bags series at Asar Gallery, marking the beginning of her solo sculptural exhibitions. In her work, Safaei uses familiar, everyday objects to create new forms. Bags, shoes, and other objects associated with women’s lives are removed from their conventional functions and become a means of exploring women’s experiences in society. In addition to sculpture, she works in installation and video art and is a member of the Iranian Sculptors Association.
