

Setareh Hosseini
Setareh Hosseini is a visual artist based in Melbourne, Australia. She completed a Master of Illustration in 2005. Her interest in art began in childhood, attending art classes alongside her mother. So, she got her B.A. in Graphic design and M.A. in Illustration to continue her passion. She tried to find a way between different art forms that she has known to express herself, from Illustration and Painting to Photography and Video Art and Installation. So, there is a dynamic exchange between what she does and Contemporary art. Her work explores a range of themes including memory, culture, belongings, migration, women and their lived experiences within the environments they inhabit. She examines the intersections of tradition and modernity, and the cultural nuances that emerge from this dialogue. Environmental concerns also feature in her practice and can be traced in several of her works. Her Paintings, Photographs and Video Arts have been exhibited at internationally galleries and Spaces including Counihan Gallery in Melbourne/ Australia, The Fornaresio Art Gallery in Italy, Powerlong Art Center in Shanghai / China , Peephole Cinema in San _ Francisco /U.S.A, The 8th Geumgang Nature Art Biennale in Korea. She is the recipient of the Noel Counihan Commemorative Art Award 2024 with her work “Pitcher” from “Emigrabilia” series. Hosseini has also curated some exhibition. Her paintings, photographs, and video art have been exhibited internationally in different galleries and art spaces, including: Counihan Gallery in Melbourne/Australia, Fornaresio Art Gallery in Italy, Powerlong Art Center in Shanghai/China, Peephole Cinema in San Francisco/USA, and the 8th Geumgang Nature Art Biennale in South Korea. One of her artworks, “The Pitcher” from the series “Emigrabilia”, was awarded the 2024 Noel Counihan Commemorative Art Award in Melbourne, Australia. Setareh Hosseini has held seven solo exhibitions in Iran and Australia and has participated in over fifty group exhibitions in various countries. She also has curatorial experience, having curated several exhibitions throughout her career.
