Timo Naseri, an Iranian-German artist, was born in 1972 in Berlin. He graduated from the Lette Institute in Berlin with a degree in photography and has been interested in visual composition and geometric structures from the very beginning. His trip to Iran in 1997 marked a turning point in his artistic career, where he became acquainted with Iranian architecture and Islamic geometric patterns, particularly the muqarnas, an experience that became central to his work. Since 2004, Naseri has entered the field of sculpture, creating works inspired by the fusion of Islamic and Western cultural heritage. His works span various media, including painting, sculpture, drawing, and neon installations, and he has developed a unique visual language through a distinctive use of mirrored surfaces and geometry in both design and sculpture. The main themes of his work include mathematics, geometry, architecture, and calligraphy. Naseri has held numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, collaborating with prominent galleries such as Galerie Zamel, Lory Shabibi, Sabrina Armani, and Lumiere. He has received awards including the Anne Beermann Prize, the Saarfrengas Young Artists Award, and the prestigious Abraaj Capital Art Prize. His works are held in collections and museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum in London. His works have also been featured in major auction houses, including Christie's, Sotheby's, Van Ham, and Tehran Auction, solidifying his position as an internationally recognized artist. By employing precise lines, compasses, and measurements, Naseri creates orderly and modern spaces in his works that are deeply rooted in tradition while presenting a contemporary aesthetic.
