Tarlan Tabar was born in 1984 in Qazvin, Iran. She received her B.A. in Painting from the University of Art, Tehran, in 2008. In 2014, she held her first solo exhibition, "Amnesia," at 009821 Gallery in Tehran. Her work has been presented in exhibitions and art fairs in Iran and internationally, including Contemporary Istanbul (2022), London Art Fair (2021), and Teer Art Fair (2020). She was also shortlisted for the Vista Art Prize. Tabar’s paintings and three-dimensional works address themes including memory and forgetting, life and immortality, narcissism, cannibalism, and ambiguity. Narrative occupies an important place in her artistic approach. She works across a range of media and techniques; in the "Amnesia" series, for instance, marker serves as one of the principal media.
