Yervand Nahapetian, an Armenian-Iranian artist, was born in 1913 in Isfahan. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of watercolor painting in Iran. At the age of seven, he began studying painting under Sarkis Khachatourian and later Alexander Nersessian during the period of World War I. Nahapetian subsequently focused intensively on the watercolor technique and played a significant role in the contemporary Isfahan School of Watercolor. His paintings—created with bright, luminous colors—depict urban views, particularly of Isfahan, as well as architecture, nomadic migrations, still life, miniatures, and more. Working in a realist style with an emphasis on Iranian identity, he presents his surroundings with clarity and structure. Many of his works are held in international museums, and his artworks have appeared numerous times at international auctions.
