
Saber Abar (b. 1984, Tehran) is an Iranian actor, theatre director, and writer. He began his professional career as a television presenter before expanding his practice into cinema, theatre, and other fields of the arts. Abar was nominated for the Crystal Simorgh for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in Minay-e Shahr-e Khamoush (2006) and About Elly (2009), and for the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor for Dayereh-e Zangi (2008). In recent years, Abar has maintained an active presence in the visual arts, working across photography, installation, and performance. In 2018, he founded IN/JA Gallery in Tehran, focusing on contemporary Iranian art and hosting solo and group exhibitions by artists from different generations. Among Abar’s visual art projects is I Ask People for Help, presented at Mohsen Gallery, in which he exhibited a collection of 1,724 photographs and notices relating to people who went missing during the 1980s. The project also included a 12-hour performance with actress Pantea Panahiha. His work has also been presented in the group exhibition A Piece of Life at e1 Gallery.
