Salaar Ahmadian, a calligrapher and painter, was born in 1957 in Dezful, Iran. He began his calligraphy training under the guidance of Master Amir Khani, earning the highest distinction, and later studied Shekasteh Nastaʿlīq script with Master Kaboli. In the 1980s, he emigrated to Canada and continued his professional career in the field of contemporary art. His first solo exhibition was held in 1994 at the Manly Museum Gallery in Sydney, and in the same year, his works were also displayed at the Bernadette Gallery in Vancouver. Since then, Ahmadian has held numerous solo exhibitions in various countries, including Paris, London, Dubai, Toronto, Washington, D.C., and Tehran. His works are part of the collections of prominent international museums, such as the Orlando Museum, the Manly Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran. Ahmadian’s naqqash-khat (painting-calligraphy) style combines traditional calligraphy principles with a painterly approach and playful use of color.
