Seyed Mohammad Fadavi

Seyed Mohammad Fadavi, born in 1956 (1335 in the Iranian calendar), is an Iranian painter, illustrator, and graphic designer known for his improvisational technique. His interest in art began in childhood, encouraged by his father, Seyed Hashem Fadavi—a traditional Iraqi coffeehouse painter. After completing his military service, he began his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran, a period marked by the Cultural Revolution and its challenges, which extended his studies to approximately nine years. He later pursued a Master’s degree in Graphic Design under prominent instructors such as Morteza Momayez, Royin Pakbaz, and Mohammad Ehsai, and eventually earned a PhD in Art Research from the University of Tehran. In addition to his academic work, Fadavi continued his painting practice under the guidance of Hannibal Al-Khass, Irandokht Mohasses, and Javad Hamidi. His professional experience includes positions such as Dean of the Faculty of Art at Alzahra University, faculty member at the Faculty of Visual Arts, University of Tehran, head of the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Tehran, director of the Institute for the Development of Visual Arts, and CEO of the Niavaran Artistic Creation Foundation.
