Was she mad, or was she simply suffering? How many words were never heard by anyone, and how many cries went unheard? Amidst it all, there was a woman who complained in three of the world’s living languages; with her breasts severed, and a bone whose absence could be felt at her feet. Was she mad, or was she suffering? She smiled at her past and struggled to return to it. Even then, one could still see that, despite all its bitterness, she was like the moon, with stars gathered around her. And at the end of all her grievances, she sat quietly, sorrowful. And I still could not understand: was she mad, or was she suffering?
