About the Artwork

"The Turtle-Formed Baby Monster" is a member of the series "The Charming Baby Monsters." This series is defined by two formal elements: gaping mouths with bloody teeth and handless bodies. A childlike color palette serves as the shared visual motif across all works. This creature's form is built around an ovoid hemisphere as its body and a hemisphere as its head, delicately attached at a single point. This simplified, essential volumetric composition takes inspiration from the overall silhouette of a turtle—hence the name "Turtle-Formed." The sculpture is meticulously hand-built, initially bisque-fired at 1050°C, then glazed and finished in a final firing at 1080°C.
