Mohammadreza Khalaji

Mohammad Reza Khalaji is a sculptor born in Zanjan in 1974. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, majoring in sculpture. Mohammad Reza Khalaji has participated in several group and solo exhibitions, including the Iranian Sculptors Group Exhibition in Mexico, two solo shows at Iranshahr Gallery, and several biennials of contemporary sculpture in Tehran. He has also participated in the International Biennial of Contemporary Crafts at the Grand Palais in Paris. His bronze sculptures depict contemporary man in a suspended and unstable state, in unusual combinations with everyday objects or with extra limbs. His bronze sculptures are of impressive technical quality and delicate and masterful finishing, and are often decorated with indigenous aesthetic elements, including calligraphy.
