About the Artwork
Utopia The city stands as a symbol of civilization, wisdom, order, and cohesion—a realm where humanity has turned away from nature to construct, through intellect and science, a structured and law-bound environment, thus embarking on the path of urbanity. In essence, the city is a center that epitomizes humankind’s progress in various spheres of life. Yet a crucial question arises: after centuries of scientific, intellectual, and technological advancement, has contemporary humanity truly achieved inner and outer security, or real civilization? Despite these remarkable advancements, persistent and emerging challenges—such as wars, inequalities, environmental crises, and intensifying psychological struggles—remain ever-present, often introducing new crises into the fabric of human existence. Thus, cities continuously reflect humanity’s efforts to build a better world, while simultaneously reminding us of the vulnerabilities and threats that, if left unchecked, may lead to collapse. The works presented here are not to be viewed as representations of ideal places or utopian states; rather, they symbolize failed hopes, shattered dreams, and collapsed concepts or structures. This approach invites the viewer to confront images constructed from ruins, contradictions, and human crises—instead of envisioning a flawless, harmonious world. By doing so, the work offers a profound critique of our current social, political, and cultural realities.
