Instincts, are feelings and behaviors which are intrinsic and primordial nature of mankind.
Social and living norms and procedures, however, restrict one’s scope of instinctive behavior and response.
Dos and don’ts that we create for us and others can impose restrictions for instinctive behaviors.
Intelligent man would immerse himself in his social environment.
He deems himself to be free yet he restrain his instincts.
In contemporary life he puts a leash of his Id, which Freud considers to be the main source of pleasure, with Superego that entails idealism, conscience and feeling of guilt.
