Songs are rooted in human needs and concerns
Paintings based on my own poems, Paintings with Persian songs themes
We listen to music and enjoy it intuitively, sing along with it and find tranquility in it without necessarily realizing that the lyrics express our emotional needs, and that we have musical inner talk.
People’s worries and secrets along with their emotional and social needs are conveyed in written form to express their affection or dissatisfaction. The written forms assume a rhythm to attract the listener’s support and affection; what we call poetry. At times, these are coupled with music and make the songs.
The poems and songs which gain popularity are the ones that are either more beautiful or related to concerns of more people. Thus, it seems that the majority of the popular songs are rooted in needs, fears, worries, and uncertainties that one can shout freely and feel relieved.
My purpose is to turn the feelings expressed in these songs into pictures and then compare the two forms to see if the picture can also give people joy and tranquility through the expression of needs or fears.
In 2011, when I was twenty years old, I heard a song called Friend’s Keepsake for the first time. I was so impressed by the song that I kept listening to it for a couple of months with an enigmatic feeling. After two years being a student in a distant desert city, I realized that I was writing prose coming from inspiration. After two years, I had compiled a book of poems inspired by my personal and social memories, needs, and emotions.
Being an artist, I yearned to express these poems in painting, hence the start of painting in 2015. After one year and a half, and having produced around twenty sketches, and eight paintings, I was drawn to the lyrics of the songs by renowned singers of my country who expressed social and humanistic concerns. So I painted the songs which had attracted several generations and had been reproduced by various singers. It is worth mentioning that one of these paintings won the first prize in a national painting festival in Iran in 2018.
