Biography

Bio

Saeideh Gilani was born in Tehran in 1980. She studied textile design at Doctor Shariati Technical University of designing and printing, Tehran from 2002 to 2006 .Painting began to interest her at the very early years of undergraduate, where after taking modules such as sketching and foundations of visual arts, she became fascinated with the beauty of painting. Then she soon realized that she should follow her interests outside the university and started taking painting and sketching classes for further education. To finalize undergraduate she had to work on a project which must have normally been related to textile design, but turned to a painting project: illustration of one of Sohrab Sepehri's (a contemporary Iranian poet and painter) poems. This was unsurprisingly because she devoted herself more to painting than textile design.
After B.A. Saeideh found herself to be still thirsty for expanding knowledge of art, and in particular painting, beyond its experimental sense and therefore decided to enter academia again, this time to pursuing a degree in Art Research. There she offered time to work on semiotic studies of visual works. Her studies of painting helped her and gave her more what the eastern spirits of art had to offer and she tried to link and compare them with western thoughts. Therefore, She compared, from a semiotic perspective, illustrations of Sani' al Mulk and Marc Chagall from "A thousand and One Nights" historic book, as her M.A Thesis which was a quiet different and particular study that has ever been done in Iran. She completed a post-graduate degree at University of Tehran, Science and Culture, in 2011.
Saeedeh started out exhibiting in 2007at Lale Gallery, Tehran. Since then she has been taking part in various solo and group exhibitions in public galleries such as Seyhoon Gallery in 2012 and Arte Gallery in 2013. She was working as a lecturer at the Semnan Art University for 2 years .In her paintings as an abstract painter she has been trying to mix her academic studies and experiences in semiotic with painting to meet her passion and interests in both professionally and academically.
After many years of painting in realistic style, she moved forward, experimenting with abstracts in various mediums. This pushed her to expand her horizons and tap into new areas of painting she had not yet explored. There was an obvious freedom and personal expression with abstraction and it was then that she really began to flourish. She was deeply interested in the effects of color, texture and the emotional response to strong composition and design.
Today, She focus on visual translation of the effects of organic shapes She brings a subtle and sophisticated feel to her paintings through a unique balance of texture and composition.

Description

Crawling out, moving beyond the borders, outflow of the shapes all to gain a form which is not ultimate.
My works are the annunciation of formation of endless new shapes which will be woven through black texture with a stunning shining. I am fascinated by the concept of the forming the world. I am therefore devoting myself to build an absurd universe fuelled by repeating the internal organic matter patterns.
Today I focus on visual translation of the effects of organic shapes in forming the world on my imagination. They are generally shapes that are unpredictable and flowing. On my path, I was attracted to the limitless world of mind and imagination and its use in creating images. I realized that the closest subjects to mind are organic and philosophy. So attempted to have a deeper understanding of fluidity of bio life through study of theories of cosmological. So my paintings are not about figuring out the right way to make certain things, or non-things, appear; it’s an attempt to craft a nature of appearances, where nothing exceeds, nor falls short of, the real world of the Great Outdoors.
I accompany and direct the procedure in such a way that the end result can deliver my aesthetic sensations and perceptions.
