I was a lonely shy girl with my books, I played in small garden of our house in the middle of insects and herbs.
Then I learned to draw them, so start to draw everything on every surfaces. After that, all my books, notebooks and textbooks, were full of drawings. Teachers and parents were not happy for that because I spent so much time painting and drawing, I did not let any text in school books to be free from my lines!
They forbid me to draw anymore. I started drawing during the night under the bed created many paper persons and animals cut from outlines. I had near 1000 paper puppets, they had names, carriers, families and their own stories and it was the start of joy of cutting papers!
After all those books, nature discovering and drawing, I had no choice except being an illustrator and writer.
And although I start my work with other techniques such acrylics and oil color but return to collage and still after 22 years, I still enjoy collage.
Collage is a technique which never let you control it hundred percent .always has some surprise for you and play a game with you. Shows you accidental forms and unpredictable edges.
So, you can have a complete interaction with collage.
Most of my illustrations are for some order. Books, posters, calendars and etc. but I enjoy more when I order myself to make something, free images for no reason, only because of a pure sense.
Usually the result is what others also can make a connection with.
I have a book published in Italy
(two friends) in English, in Italian: ill Bosco delle meraviglie- publisher: terre-Italy-2010 (winner of grand prix of Belgrade biennial 2010 and new horizon of bologna
First was some images I made with natural elements, seeds and leaf and stems. Then I add a poetic story and still is one of my best books and people and children like it.
The book you see in this exhibition, Hey! Its spring-
Is the only childish poem-about spring- by Nima Yushij – the father of modern poetry of Iran 1897-1960
The images are very loyally to the north province of Iran (Mazandaran) the place of birth of Nima. I try to show the culture of those people and use landscape to put many details inside a frame. However it is an order from the publisher: Mirmah, but I feel it deeply and try to make pictures respectfully and somewhat qualified.
The time I spend on this frames is near one year, not continuously but every time I felt I should work on it.
Poem is about spring, it’s very simple rhyme short one. But full of joy and freedom.
